How to prepare your website details?
Creating a new website is an exciting process, but success largely depends on the preparations. We often find that development is delayed because the content and structure are not figured out. If you want your website to be completed quickly and smoothly, it is worth gathering the most important materials in advance. Here's what they are!
1. Define the exact target audience Before you write any text, you need to know who you are talking to. A B2B software company needs a different style than a local artisan bakery. Write down in 2-3 sentences who your ideal customer is, what their problems are, and how your service solves them.
2. Plan the menu items (Structure) Think about what pages you will need. A basic corporate website usually consists of the following: Home, Services, About Us, Contact. If you have references or prices, it is also worth dedicating a separate menu item to them. Make a simple sketch!
3. Write the text content The design is just the frame, the text is what sells. Try to write down your message page by page (or section by section). It doesn't have to be perfect right away, the point is for the developer to see how much and what kind of text they have to work with. Don't forget about catchy headlines!
4. Gather visual elements If you already have a logo or a brand manual (colors, fonts), definitely prepare it in vector (.svg, .eps) or high-resolution format. Find good quality, own photos of the team, the office, or the products. If you don't have your own photos, let the contractor know that stock photos will be needed.
5. Gather inspiration and competition Find 3-4 websites (can be foreign too) whose style, structure, or color scheme you like. Likewise, it is worth looking at your direct competitors: what are they doing well, and how could you be better than them?
If you gather these materials into a single folder (for example, a Google Drive directory), your web developer will love you, and the project can be completed weeks earlier, without compromises.
